Unknown builder or luthier made banjo with a black cherry sunburst on curly maple. It looks like a recent build and with unknown parts. This would be a great upgrade from most import banjos that you would learn on and will serve as a great stepping-stone banjo until you can afford your dream instrument. Hey… the number of banjos that you need is always one more than you currently own. 🙂
Even though this was banjo has some mistakes in it, they are mostly cosmetic in nature. The finish does have some minor issues and for my taste, the frets are a bit on the large side. Like Les Paul plus, but not quite bass fat.
This banjo plays well and stays in tune, and it has a nice punch and fat tone. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it to a jam session or two if I owned it.
